Stay to the End

I’m teaching more yoga classes these days, and noticed Savasana (also known as the final resting pose) is difficult for some. It is the best part of class, and I encourage students to stay to the end.

In our hustle & bustle society, it’s a badge of honor to be busy. Sometimes, you need to take a step back and slow down. In these winter months, I’ve gravitated to more gentle yoga and the restorative influence of a good Savasana.

Don’t leave a yoga class before the end. The Yoga Journal recently published an article called Tempted to Skip Savasana? 10 Top Yoga Teachers Explain Why It’s the Most Important Pose.

Eoin Finn, one of my favorite yoga teachers and founder of Blissology Yoga, wrote: “Savasana is when our nervous system can switch to parasympathetic tone that is essential to the body’s ability to repair and reset itself. Mentally, when the body finally becomes tension free, the mind has a chance to follow suit and become clear and clutter free.”
